Belated Beauty
While going through some pictures, I came across these shots that I took early in June of this year(2010), and had intended to blog about them. Since it is now September, I decided I had better blog about them before winter!
I took all of these as I was walking in our back yard.
I was impressed myself!
So many beautiful things are in bloom in the month of June, and it is a wonderful time to take pictures.
I am thankful to the Lord for all the beauty He has given me in my own back yard, and I am thankful to my wonderful husband (Lonnie) who planted every bush and every tree and every flower in our back yard. Trust me, if it had been left to me, there probably would not have been all this beauty. I do not have a green thumb!
I have enjoyed looking at the pictures of the back yard in June. It looks different now with Fall setting in, and it will definitely look different in Winter, especially when there is about an inch of ice hanging on all this vegetation. I love living in a four season area, though. We get to see all of God's beauty this way. You may see this post again, though, come January or February!
Come.......take a stroll with me, on a day in June, in my backyard!
Some beauty that I love, but don't know the name of
I'm not sure this family would always be welcome, but they are cute!
Yes, this is a "green" blackberry, and yes, we do make Blackberry Cobbler from them!
Lillies ..... from a friend's from Georgia's garden!
Cherries, and yes we do make cherry pies.....well, sometimes!
Poor Little Old chair again!
Not a very good pic, but my favorite......white Hydrangas.
Peaches.......ummmm, don't think I've ever made a peach cobbler from these.
Don't know the name of these beauties either. Told you I wasn't a green thumb. I'm just a spoiled wife who enjoys all that her husband works so hard at planting.
Old toad looking over into the pond.
Stone pathway that my wonderful husband alsodid.
Decided, on a whim to set the flower pot in the little iron chair, and liked it!
Hope you enjoyed your stroll.....please come again!..soon, before winter!

Achsah....the Wise One!
Achsah was a wise woman. Delilah was not!
Which one am I?
Pr 14:1 "Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands."
Note the differences in the following two passages of Scripture:
Achsah's Way:
Joshua 15:16 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife. 17 And Nathaniel the son of Kean, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife. 18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou? 19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
Delilah's Way:
Judges 16:16 "And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; 17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man."
The“young” bride, Achsah got her husband to do something by “moving” him. (See the results v.19) Wicked Delilah got her husband to something by “pressing” him (daily). (See results Judges 16:21) What is the difference between these two words? “Pressing” did not mean ironing his shirts! It probably means the same thing as nagging.
Another interesting word in the Bible, and one that is in reference to women (yikes) is the word "brawling". It actually says it is better to live in a corner of a housetop than to live in a wide house with a brawling woman. (Prov. 21:9; Proverbs 25:24) That word "brawl" means to beat or drive away. (Sometimes looking up the actual meaning of a word is a little scary!) It sounds like this is what Delilah evidently did this to Sampson daily until she beat him down. Yes, today it is called "nagging".
Prov. 31:12, says, “She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.”
We will not get anywhere with our husbands by nagging, by brawling, by anger and contention, but we might be able to "move" him by a meek and quiet spirit. 1Peter 3:4 says, "But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." I think if we tried this more, we might be pleasantly surprised!
Let’s don’t do evil to our husbands, but let's do them good “all" the days of our lives!
Let's don't be a "brawling" wife and drive our husband away and beat them down. Let's build them up! (Prov. 14:1)
Let's don’t "press" our husbands as Delilah did , but "move" our husbands as Achsah did!
I came across this devotional from a year or so ago. I thought it would be good to share on "Sunday Favorites"; that maybe it would be a help and blessing to someone. As I was editing it, I realized that I needed it too! That's the way the Lord works! I hope it is an encouragement to someone.

Journey to Jessamine Creek
Every kid should have the opportunity to play in a creek in the summertime!
I have many memories of doing so when I was a kid!
While our grandson Jackob was visiting, we took him along with four other grand kids down (waaaaay down) to the Jessamine Creek.
Sooooo, this is the story of taking grand kids to the creek! What an unforgettable excursion!
Here they are on the path to the creek
There they go down the path to the creek
Eli - he did not want to get in the creek. He only wanted to throw rocks in the creek. That was fine except when he almost hit the others with the huge rocks!
They had soooo much fun, but coming back up (waaaay up) the hill was the hard part!
Anna Grace: "I'm dizzy, what if I pass out?" whine, whine : [
Olivia: "Granna, I need a band aid. My leg, my leg, it hurts! tears, tears : (
Abby: "I'm so sleepy! Pappaw, will you carry me?" Yeah, right!" So pitiful! : \
It was a free outing. That was good! We even were able to bring home some free souvenirs, which I would just as soon have left waaaaa down there in the creek........CHIGGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheerful Cherry Pickers
Days in the month of May in the State of Kentucky are so beautiful! They are especially pretty when the cherry trees are in bloom and when the cherrys are being picked off the trees by some sweet girls. These pictures were taken right after school was out for the Summer and the girls (Anna, Olivia and Abby) spent the night with us. It was morning and the sunlight was perfect for taking pictures. I love the blue skys against the green and red. Fun times!

My First Post on "Sunday Favorites"
With Winter weather almost over and and every one's attention turning to Srping, I can't help but think of Resurrection Sunday. This poem by my husband, sums up what it is all about.

He included this poem in a message on Sunday. This is one of my favorite things he has ever written. What a wonderful Savior we have. I am so thankful he died and paid my sin debt that I couldn't pay and that He arose again!
THREE CROSSES
Nearly two thousand years ago three men died on a cross.
One died railing in his wretchedness.
One died repenting of his wretchedness.
One died redeeming the wretched.
One died full of sin.
One died free from sin.
One died for all sin.
One died slandering the Savior.
One died seeking the Savior.
One died The Savior of sinners.
One died profaning and cursing the provision of God
One died praying and claiming the promise of God
One died pardoning and cleansing the progeny of God.
One died in transgression and enmity against God.
One died transformed and enlightened by the Grace of God.
One died and transcended to intercede at the right hand of God.
One died and perished.
One died and went to paradise.
One died to prepare a place.
One died forever forgotten.
One died forever forgiven.
One died forever forgiving.
Three men died on a cross.
One of them should have been me, but
One was my Substitute, my Savior, and the Son of God.
