Sights and Sounds from Sunday
This was such a special Sunday. It was, as we know, Easter Sunday, and we had a wonderful day at church with two people saved, and then a blessed time with our family. The following are pictures of our get-together. I have tried to include every one in these pictures. Thanks for looking at the many pics! Bear with me, when it comes to my grandchildren, I don't know when to quit!!!!!! We miss Dan, Leah and Jake at times like this.....maybe one of these years they will be able to be here as well. God is so good to us!

Three Crosses

My husband included this poem that he wrote several years ago in the message on Sunday. This is one of my favorite things he has ever written. What a wonderful Savior we have. I am so thankful he died and paid my sin debt that I couldn't pay and that He arose again!
THE THREE CROSSES

Nearly two thousand years ago three men died on a cross.
One died railing in his wretchedness.
One died repenting of his wretchedness.
One died redeeming the wretched.
One died full of sin.
One died free from sin.
One died for all sin.
One died slandering the Savior.
One died seeking the Savior.
One died The Savior of sinners.
One died profaning and cursing the provision of God
One diedpraying and claiming the promise of God
One died pardoning and cleansing the progeny of God.
One died in transgression and enmity against God.
One died transformed and enlightened by the Grace of God.
One died and transcended to intercede at the right hand of God.
One died and perished.
One died and went to paradise.
One died to prepare a place.
One died forever forgotten.
One died forever forgiven.
One died forever forgiving.
Three men died on a cross.
One of them should have been me, but
One was my Substitute, my Savior, and the Son of God.

Sights and Sounds from Sundays Introduction

Sunday is always such a wonderful day! It certainly should be; It's the Lord's day. Even though everyday is the Lord's day, Sunday is just so special because, for one we get to be together with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we get to hear a wonderful message from God's Word that He has given our pastor (in my case, my husband!), and we get to sing the wonderful songs of praise to the Lord and worship Him. Sometimes we even get to take a nap! (Not in church, but at home after church!) Sundays should be a day of rest, you know; so a nap is perfectly in order! Sundays are just great! I can't imagine doing anything different on Sundays. Hopefully I will be able to share a little through these posts that the Lord is doing for us at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Sundays!

This is a scene that I never tire of seeing; folks on their knees bowing before the Lord, at the altar. This is something that people do frequently at TBC, and it is such a blessing. I know it is to the preacher, and I know the Lord is pleased. "Thank you Lord, for your blessings and the spirit of revival you have given us."

Introduction to the W.O.W. Factor

Have you heard the term "putting the 'wow' factor" into something? Maybe you have gone into a beautifully decorated house or building and stood there with your mouth open and said "wow"! Or maybe it is some other event or circumstance that has "wowed" you. Have you ever thought about the fact that you could be the "wow" in the "wow" factor?
For years in studying the women in the Bible, I have tried to look at them from the aspect of whether they were a wise or a foolish woman. Proverbs 14:1 says, "Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands". According to this verse, it is simple to determine whether or not a woman is wise or foolish. It is whether or not she "buildeth" her house (not literally of course) or if she "plucketh" it down with her hands.
We can not only determine this concerning women in the Bible, but also women that we know and see in our everyday lives, including ourselves.
The key is that as Christian women, wives and mothers, we apply the principals that the wise women of the Bible applied to build their homes. If we do this then we too will be a wise woman or a W.O.W. (Woman of Wisdom)!
It is my desire to teach this study in the Ladies Sunday School Class (Tabernacle Ladies' Class or T.L.C.). Also at the bi-monthly ladies' fellowship at our church (Sisters In Service or S.I.S.), the plans are to have a segment on a W.O.W. woman. Also, I want to periodically, as the Lord allows, post on this blog about these wise women. The posts will just be titled W.O.W. or maybe "Another W.O.W."
It is exciting! I thank the Lord for the opportunity to share what He has given me concerning this. I would certainly hope that I can always say concerning these thoughts, that they are "from" the LORD and not "from" Gail. I hope and pray that they will be a blessing to someone.
Achsah W.O.W

Achsah was a W.O.W. (Woman of Wisdom) Delilah was not! Which one am I?
Note the differences in the following two passages of Scripture:
Achsah's Way:Joshua 15:16 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.
17 And Nathaniel the son of Kean, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
Delilah's Way:
Jg 16:16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
The“young” bride, Achsah got her husband to do something by “moving” him. (See the results v.19) Wicked Delilah got her husband to something by “pressing” him (daily). (See results Judges 16:21) What is the difference between these two words? “Pressing” did not mean ironing his shirts! It probably means the same thing as nagging.
Another interesting word in the Bible, and one that is in reference to women (yikes) is the word "brawling". It actually says it is better to live in a corner of a housetop than to live in a wide house with a brawling woman. (Prov. 21:9; Proverbs 25:24) That word "brawl" means to beat or drive away. (Sometimes looking up the actual meaning of a word is a little scary!) It sounds like this is what Delilah evidently did this to Sampson daily until she beat him down. Yes, today it is called "nagging".
Prov. 31:12, says, “She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.”
We will not get anywhere with our husbands by nagging, by brawling, by anger and contention, but we might be able to "move" him by a meek and quiet spirit. 1Pe 3:4 says, "But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." I think if we tried this more, we might be pleasantly surprised!
Let’s don’t do evil to our husbands, but let's do them good “all" the days of our lives!
Let's don't be a "brawling" wife and drive our husband away and beat them down. Let's build them up! (Prov. 14:1)
Let's don’t "press" our husbands, but "move" our husbands!
P.S. I came across this devotional from a year or so ago. I thought it would be good to share on "Sunday Favorites"; that maybe it would be a help and blessing to someone. As I was editing it, I realized that I needed it too! That's the way the Lord works! I hope it is an encouragement to someone.
Become a W.O.W. (Woman of Wisdom)!

Crock Pot Chicken-n-Dressing
The following is a recipe which I have done a couple of times. It is a very good recipe for Sundays or when you have a big family or a crowd to feed. Of course, crock pot cooking is always nice. I am trying to get my "Meals for a Month" all organized and on my desktop. So, I thought I might as well share some of them. This could also go under "Family Favorites" as well.
I am doing this for dinner tonight. Tonight is "most of the family over" night, so hopefully it will feed everyone.
Crock Pot Chicken - n - Dressing
1 baking hen - cooked and pulled apart,
or use bonesless chicken or,
even better, use already
cooked, Walmart chicken!!!
(You know, that "Semi-homemade" way of cooking! There's nothing wrong with that!)
1 large skillet cornbread - crumbled (I think you have to make this, or you might could buy it, I don't know. I'm planning on making my own.)
1 med. onion chopped
3 ribs celery chopped
2 hard boiled eggs
2 Tbs. sage 1 stick of butter or margarine
2 cans Cream of Chicken Soup
In crock pot, layer 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup.
Mix all ingredients except hen and layer half of mixture over soup.
Add layer of half of chicken, the other half of dressing mixture - other half of hen and remaining soup
Cook on low for 3 hrs.
Very tasty and great for Sundays!
